Annie Laurie Baker papers, 1921-1972.

Included in the Baker papers is historical information on medical social work and on social welfare services in Minnesota, a copy of the legislative act creating the Minnesota General Hospital at the University of Minnesota, a letter outlining a proposal for the development of the Masonic Unit of the University Hospitals (1955), and various reports and papers by people (other than Baker) on welfare and hospital services. Included is an account of the 1918 influenza epidemic at the University Hospitals, written by a former nursing student.

Annie Laurie Baker came to the University of Minnesota Hospitals in 1931 as a medical social worker. In 1935, she went to the State Board of Control (now the State Dept. of Public Welfare), to serve as a district representative in northwest Minnesota until 1942. She also worked as director of the Division of Blind form 1938-1942.
